A shocking case of triple talaq has come to light from Gonda, UP. When a woman resident of Bauriahi village of Dhanepur police station area saved her brother’s life by donating his kidney, her husband sitting in Saudi Arabia gave her triple talaq. Not only this, the husband also told the wife that if she wants to live together, then she should ask for Rs 40 lakh from her brother in exchange for her kidney. When the wife refused to ask for money from the brother, the angry husband pronounced divorce thrice. After triple talaq, her in-laws also chased her away. The victim, living in her maternal home, has filed a complaint against her husband to the Dhanepur police. The police have registered a case against the accused husband under several serious sections including triple talaq and have started investigation.
Actually, Tarannum, a resident of Bauriahi village, was married to Mohammad Rasid, a resident of the neighboring village Jaitapur, 25 years ago. Both were living happily. When Tarannum did not have any child after 5 years of marriage, Mohammad Rasheed got married for the second time and went to Saudi Arabia to earn. Triple talaq victim Tarannum told that my elder brother Mohammad Shakir used to work as a tailor in Mumbai. His kidney was bad for one and a half years. Who was being treated at Jaslok Hospital in Mumbai. In August this year, when brother’s condition worsened, the family members took him to Mumbai. Where doctors advised kidney transplant citing kidney damage. According to Tarannum, when I came to know about this, I decided to donate one of my kidneys to save my brother’s life and talked to the doctors and asked them to start preparations. I had also told my husband Mohammad Rashid sitting in Saudi Arabia about this decision. He had said yes at that time, after which I went to Mumbai and got my checkup done and donated my kidney to my brother. Due to which my brother’s life was saved. After a week, the doctors discharged both of us from the hospital.
Triple talaq given on WhatsApp call
According to Tarannum, when I was discharged, I returned to Gonda and started living with my in-laws. As soon as I reached home, my husband called me and started expressing his displeasure over giving the kidney to his brother. I said that initially you had said yes, that’s why I saved my brother’s life by donating my kidney. Now what is the resentment about? Hearing this he disconnected the call. When the second call came, the husband said that he would ask for Rs 40 lakh from his brother in exchange for the kidney. This way I was blown away. I refused to do so and said that even if I had to donate my kidney to save your life, I would have given it. But the husband insisted on demanding Rs 40 lakh from his brother. When I clearly refused to do so, the next day my husband called me on WhatsApp and said divorce thrice. Told this to the rest of the in-laws. After this my in-laws threw me out of the house. From there I came to my brother’s house and told the whole matter to my brother.

My brother said that the husband must have said in anger, wait for a few days and he will call you back. After this, I went to my in-laws’ house several times but my in-laws did not allow me to stay at home. Talked to her husband several times but he kept insisting on demanding Rs 40 lakh. Due to this, after 4 months, after getting tired, I went to the police station and told the whole matter. Then on December 17, the police registered a case of triple talaq against the husband. Gonda Additional Superintendent of Police Radheshyam Rai said that a husband has given triple talaq to his wife. The victim has filed a complaint in the Thanepur police station alleging that her husband lives in Saudi Arabia and from there he has given triple talaq on WhatsApp. On Tahrir, a case has been registered against the accused husband and the whole matter is being investigated, his family members are being interrogated, the husband will be arrested as soon as he returns.
