UP News: Rs 275 crore spent to make roads pothole free, PWD claims 100 percent work completed

Lucknow: After the rebuke of CM Yogi, the PWD department has claimed to have 100 percent beautification and pothole-free work in 2022-23. The restoration process of the routes is said to be 93 percent complete. So far this year, the Public Works Department has allocated Rs 275 to all the districts of the state to meet the targets of road strengthening. Work on these is also going on at a fast pace and the government is also continuously monitoring in this regard.

Targets are being accomplished by combining 10 departments

According to the data of Public Works Department, the target of pothole freeing of 100867 roads under total 10 departments in the state was achieved. According to the data of the year 2022-23, 100 percent success has been achieved in this direction. Whereas restoration works of 98355 roads have been completed. A total of 93 percent works have been completed between the year 2022-23. The Public Works Department is engaged to complete the remaining 7 percent work.

Many departments including PWD, NHAI involved

Apart from the Public Works Department, National Highways (PWD), National Highway Authority of India (NHAI-West UP), NHAI (East UP), Mandi Parishad Department, Panchayati Raj Department, Irrigation Department, Rural Development Department (UPRRDA), Urban Development Department, Sugarcane Department, Housing and Urban Planning Department and Infrastructure and Industrial Development Department are engaged in this work.

Framework ready for regular monitoring of restoration and patchwork works

The deadline has been set according to the process of renewal of routes in the state. According to this, a time limit of 4 years has been set for state roads, 4 years for major district roads, 5 years for other district roads and 8 years for renewal of rural roads. Under this, a systematic framework of tendering and regular monitoring has been prepared, including resolution of problems related to restoration, patchwork and beautification schemes of roads, determination of budget allocation and technical quality assessment review and other aspects.
