Lucknow. In view of the widening project being run by the North Central Railway (NCR), the Niranjan Railway Under Bridge will be closed for traffic from May 9 for the next 100 days. Railway officials said that a new rail track will also be laid on the bridge. Repair of the bridge and laying of new rail track is expected to help in smooth and fast running of trains. This ROB has been the main link of traffic between Civil Lines, Chowk and Old City areas of the city for years.

The block will be effective from the midnight of 8th May.

NCR PRO Amit Malviya says that “As per the consent of the District Magistrate of Prayagraj, both the ways of Railway Under Bridge No. 38 (Niranjan Bridge) near Suraj Kund Police Chowki will be temporarily closed for 100 days from May 9. The block will be effective from the midnight of May 8, ”Due to the traffic block, passengers will not be able to use both the lanes passing under the Niranjan bridge for the next 100 days.

Big challenge for residents of Sangam city for three months

The closure of the route is expected to significantly increase the traffic load on alternate routes between Civil Lines and Old City areas, much of which will be diverted to the Allahabad High Court-Pani-ki-Tank flyover and Rambagh flyover. However, even when there were three routes connecting the old city areas to the civil lines, traffic jams were a regular thing on them. Now the next three months are expected to be a big challenge for the residents of Sangam town, especially during school closing time in the afternoon and in the evening when the offices close for the day.
