UP News: Police encounter with dacoits in Prayagraj, five gang members arrested, two injured in firing

Lucknow. A gang of dacoits had an encounter in Prayagraj on Friday with joint teams of Shankargarh and Bara police station police of trans-Yamuna area. Five gang members have been arrested after the encounter. During the cross firing between the police and the gang, two miscreants got shot in their legs. The injured miscreants have been admitted to SRN Hospital for treatment. Police said that their involvement in the Hetapatti robbery and murder incident is yet to be ascertained.

Encounter on Prayagraj-Banda highway

DCP Trans-Yamuna Santosh Kumar Meena said Station House Officer (SHO) Manoj Kumar Singh of Shankargarh police station and SHO Virender Sonkar of Bara police station were conducting a checking operation when they received information about the presence of some miscreants who That they were planning to commit robbery in a plot located in Kapari village on the Prayagraj-Banda highway. Police teams reached the spot and the dacoits asked them to surrender. The dacoits hurled two country bombs at the police team. Shots were fired at the police.

Weapons and burglary tools recovered

Taking precautions, the policemen surrounded the miscreants and fired in retaliation. Due to which two miscreants were injured by being shot in the leg. After chasing, three of his associates were also caught. Two country-made guns, 3 cartridges, pliers, a screwdriver, keys, an iron rod and other tools used in theft and robbery have been recovered from the arrested miscreants. The injured miscreants have been identified as Krishna Kumar (45) alias Andu Giri and Kailashnath (46), residents of Nigohi in Shahjahanpur district.

The dacoits are residents of Nigohi in Shahjahanpur.

On the other hand, the criminals arrested by the police include Omprakash alias Lauki Singh (28), Moti (40) and Mohanlal alias Sapeta (30), residents of Nigohi in Shahjahanpur. Andu Giri has six criminal cases against him including Arms Act, attempt to murder, robbery and gangster act in Mahoba, Kanpur and Pilibhit districts, while Kailashnath is facing charges of Arms Act, attempt to murder, murder, robbery etc in Shahjahanpur, Ayodhya and Basti districts.
