UP News: NIA attaches house of active member of Al-Qaeda in Lucknow for terrorist activities

Lucknow : The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has attached a house in Lucknow as ‘proceeds of terrorism’ after its investigation found that the property was being used by Al-Qaeda affiliated organization Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind. The NIA investigation found that Minhaj was working closely with terrorist Adil Nabi Teli @ Musa, affiliated with the Resistance Front (TRF), a branch of the banned terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba. Musa was killed in an encounter with security forces in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir on March 16, 2022. Musa is being investigated by the NIA in a case related to radicalization/recruitment of members for Al-Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent (AQIS). After the relationship came to light, Minhaj was taken to the agency. The NIA found that Minhaj had provided funds to his co-accused for the purpose of carrying out violent terrorist activities in Kashmir.

The accused had procured some raw material and components for making the IED in a pressure cooker, which was recovered from the attached property on Monday. The NIA on Wednesday said Minhaj had also prepared a sample IED using a small quantity of material and carried out its controlled explosion or test on the rooftop of an attached house.

The Central Investigation Agency found that Minhaj had recorded a video of the construction of the IED as well as its controlled explosion and sent it to Musa. He had also prepared a petrol bomb and shared a video of its making with Musa. Minhaj also purchased a pistol and live ammunition and hid them in his room on the first floor of the said house.
