UP News: Hearing in the Sikraura massacre case will be held today in the High Court, 13 accused including mafia Brijesh Singh

The famous Sikaura massacre case that took place in Chandauli, UP was heard in the High Court on Tuesday. The court will hear this case on Wednesday i.e. today also. The division bench of Chief Justice Pritinkar Diwakar and Justice Ajay Bhanot is hearing the appeal filed in the High Court on behalf of the victim Hiravati. On behalf of petitioner Hiravati Devi, an application was filed under section 391 of CrPC demanding that the investigator’s statement be taken on record. The court has taken it on record and sought a reply from the opposition. Petitioner’s lawyer Upendra Upadhyay told the court that the trial of the incident took place after many years. The trial court has not taken the statement of the first investigator on record. Whereas, this is very important evidence. Because, a witness had seen mafia Brijesh Singh on the day of the incident. His statement recorded by the investigator was not even read in the trial court. On this, the court has taken it on record and sought objection from the defendant lawyer.

This is the whole matter

It is noteworthy that Mafia Brijesh Singh, the main accused in the brutal murder of seven people in Sikaura village under Balua police station of Chandauli district of UP, was acquitted by the Varanasi court. Sikraura village head Ramchandra Yadav, his two brothers Ramjanm and Siyaram and four innocent children Madan, Umesh, Tuntun and Pramod were brutally murdered on the night of 9 April 1986. The reason for the incident was said to be land related dispute and rivalry regarding village head election. A case was registered on the complaint of Ramchandra’s wife Hiravati Devi. In this case, an FIR was lodged making a total of 13 people including mafia Brijesh Singh as accused. The court had found discrepancies in the time of filing of the FIR and the statement. The doctor had given a statement in the court that the murder mentioned could not have been done by the weapon Gadasa, but injuries caused by a bat-like weapon were found on the bodies of the deceased.

Varanasi court had acquitted

Vadini had said in her earlier statement that she had seen Pancham and Devendra coming down the stairs. Whereas, in the later statement it was said that Pancham and Brijesh were seen coming down the stairs. For this reason the court considered the plaintiff’s statement unbelievable. Let us tell you that six accused in this case have already been acquitted. After the arrest of Brijesh from Bhubaneswar, Odisha in 2008, on the instructions of the Allahabad High Court, the speedy hearing of the case started in the district court. Initially the matter was stuck regarding whether Brijesh was an adult or a minor at the time of the incident. The trial started after Brijesh was declared an adult during the incident. After hearing in Varanasi court, all the accused were acquitted. After which the victim Hiravati Devi and the government challenged the decision of the lower court. The hearing on that matter has been going on for several days.
