UP News: Gang rape of minor sisters in Lakhimpur Kheri, four convicted in murder case

A special POCSO (protection of children from sexual offences) court in Uttar Pradesh’s Lakhimpur Kheri on Friday convicted four of the six accused in a case related to the murder and gang rape of two minor Dalit sisters. Special public prosecutor Brijesh Pandey said that the designated court for cases related to the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses Act (POCSO) had fixed August 14 as the date for announcing the sentence. The role of a minor accused above 16 years of age will be pronounced by the court later. Besides, the trial of the sixth accused, who is below 16 years of age, is going on separately before the Juvenile Justice Board, he added. Two accused also guilty under section 201

Special public prosecutor Brijesh Pandey said the court has convicted two accused Junaid and Sunil alias Chhotu under sections 363 (abduction of minors), 376-D (gang rape of a woman below 16 years) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) Convicted under sections 302 (murder), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 452 (house trespass after preparation for causing hurt), 201 (causing evidence relating to offense to be caused to be missing) and section 34 offense with common intention Karna was also convicted under Section 5G/6 (gang rape and aggravated sexual assault on a child) of the POCSO Act.
