UP News: Former MLA Abdullah, son of Azam Khan, did not get relief even from the High Court, petition for relief from punishment rejected

Lucknow. SP leader Azam Khan’s son and former MLA Abdullah Azam has not got any relief from the High Court. Abdullah Azam had challenged in the High Court the two-year sentence awarded by the Moradabad court on February 13. The court has dismissed the petition rejecting the argument of his lawyer. The court rejected the argument that he was a minor at the time of the incident.

Moradabad’s court sentenced two years

On January 29, 2008, Azam Khan and Abdullah Azam were traveling in a car at Chhajlat in Moradabad district. Police stopped Azam Khan’s car during vehicle checking. Azam Khan objected to police checking. The SPs blocked the highway when their leader’s car was stopped. The matter was in the headlines. The police had registered an FIR. Azam Khan and Abdullah Azam were also made accused. On February 13, the Moradabad court sentenced Azam Khan and Abdullah Azam to two years each.

Abdullah had filed a petition in the Supreme Court against this sentence. The Supreme Court ordered an appeal to the High Court. Along with this, instructions were also given to Allahabad High Court for early hearing. On April 11, the High Court had reserved the decision after hearing the arguments of both the sides. Abdullah Azam Swar was the MLA from Tanda seat. After being sentenced to two years, his membership of the Legislative Assembly has been canceled. The Election Commission has announced the dates for the by-elections on this seat. Enrollment process is going on.
