A girl living in Lucknow had filed a complaint against Rahul Srivastava, a well-known police officer posted in UP ATS, on serious charges like sexual harassment. In which an FIR has been registered in Gomtinagar extension police station against Rahul Srivastava, his wife Manini Srivastava and 4 of Rahul’s friends under sections of rape, forced abortion and criminal intimidation. After the case was registered after three months, the victim has demanded strict action against Rahul Srivastava as well as his suspension. The girl alleged that she had come in contact with Rahul Srivastava while preparing for UPSC. They called him on the pretext of giving him notes for preparation and then raped him by giving him intoxicants by deceit. Besides, photographs have also been taken in objectionable conditions. The girl first complained to top officials of the police department and on 1090, but no action was taken against the accused officer. The girl had also shared the screen shot of Rahul Srivastava’s video call on December 25.
Even after FIR, police’s hands are still empty
Even after this, when no action was taken, the girl had requested action from CM Yogi and many police officers including DGP on social media platform X. After which the police came into action and on January 6, a case was registered at Gomtinagar extension police station in Lucknow. But now it has come to light that even before the FIR was registered, the accused officers had gone on leave. Inspector Sunil Kumar Yadav of Gomtinagar police station is investigating this case. While talking to the media, he said that he has not been able to contact Rahul Srivastava. He says that neither he knows Rahul’s address nor his mobile number. However, the Inspector said that they are trying to get the victim medically examined and her statement recorded before the court. No one has been arrested yet.
This is the whole matter
The girl had told that she had talked to Additional SP Rahul Srivastava through Facebook in 2018. At that time she was 16-17 years old and was preparing for UPSC. Rahul Srivastava had assured me to qualify the UPSC exam. After this he often came to meet me to give me study material. The girl told that once in 2019, an officer called her to meet her in a hotel on the pretext of giving her study material. There they fraudulently gave me intoxicants. Then, while drunk, he raped me and also took my nude photographs. Since then, Rahul Srivastava kept physically exploiting me by threatening to make the objectionable photo viral. During this time, I also became pregnant and then in April 2023, I was fraudulently taken to the hospital and got an abortion. The girl told that Manini Srivastava, wife of Additional SP Rahul Srivastava, had also come to know about the rape and abortion. After this Manini Srivastava and Rahul’s friends started putting pressure on me. They threatened me that if I filed a case anywhere, they would kill me. Also my family members will be implicated in a false case. I and my family are in danger from the police officer, his wife and friends.
The victim appealed to many officials for justice
According to the girl, Additional SP’s wife Manini Srivastava is a professor in the Psychology Department of Lucknow University. The victim alleged that she has been visiting the offices of DGP, ADG Law and Order and Commissioner for two months but no hearing has taken place anywhere. After this X appealed to the Chief Minister for justice. Tagging UP Chief Minister’s Office, Lucknow Police, ADG UP, Uttar Pradesh CMO Office, Uttar Pradesh Government Office, Union Minister Smriti Irani, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP Uttar Pradesh and the Prime Minister’s Office of India, the victim wrote on social media that My honor is being insulted daily by such officers in your government, please give me justice by registering an FIR. The victim wrote in her post that I also reached DGP UP, ADG Law and Order Prashant Kumar, ADG Admin Neera Rawat but did not get any positive response.
