Kanpur: In Saraswati Medical College Unnao (UP News), Executive Director Dr. Saurabh Kanwar has been suspended for harassing students and failing them maliciously. 16 MBBS third year students of the college had alleged in Raj Bhavan that they were being arbitrarily failed and mentally tortured by the college administration. In this matter, the Governor informed the Vice Chancellor of Chhatrapati Shahuji Maharaj Medical University, Prof. Vinay Pathak was instructed to investigate the matter.
ED suspended, instructions to vacate the campus
Pro. Vinay Pathak along with four doctors of GSVM Medical College Kanpur, Deputy Registrar Anjali Maurya, Prof. Anshu Yadav, Prof. Anuradha Kalani, Prof. Richa Giri’s committee was formed and this matter was investigated. This committee and the Vice Chancellor interrogated the medical college administration and the students who complained. After this, prima facie executive director Dr. Saurabh Kanwar was banned from staying and entering the campus. College Principal Prof. RN Srivastava has suspended Dr. Saurabh Kanwar.
16 students accused of failing
It is being told that 16 students had complained about forced failure in the internal exam. He was also accused of abuse and torture. A victim alleges that objectionable things were said in front of her. If they did not agree, they were threatened with failure and harassed. The family members of the student met the CM and complained about this matter. After this an FIR has also been lodged. The student alleges that she was offered an expensive phone. When he did not agree, he was also threatened with not being allowed to complete his MBBS studies.
Mental torture given to students
The student alleges that the ED kept her hostage in her room for five hours. After this he told the whole story to his family members. Since then he was continuously harassed. Sometimes he was stopped at the college gate and sometimes he was told that the fees had not been deposited. Not only this, ED Dr. Saurabh used to come to his room also on the pretext of investigation. Roll number in practical of forensic medicine was also withheld. When the result came on 14 February 2024, an error was found in it too.
FIR registered on the instructions of CM office
It is being told that on the orders of CM office, an FIR has been registered against Dr. Saurabh Kanwar at Sohramau police station on March 16. CO City Sonam Singh has started investigation into this matter. She had gone to the medical college on Thursday and talked to the student.
