Amethi (Language): An FIR has been registered against four people, including the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Sanjay Gandhi Hospital, on charges of death of a woman due to negligence in treatment in Munshiganj police station area of Amethi district of Uttar Pradesh. He said that after the FIR was registered in the early hours of Sunday, the relatives of the deceased and the villagers ended their dharna which had been going on at the main gate of the hospital since Saturday evening. Protested by placing the dead body of the woman in front of the hospital
According to Inspector-in-charge (SHO) of Munshiganj police station, Akhand Dev Mishra, the family members of a 22-year-old woman had staged a protest by placing the body of a 22-year-old woman in front of the hospital in Amethi on Saturday evening. The family members alleged that the girl died due to the alleged negligence of the doctors. Mishra said that after administrative intervention and registration of the FIR, the protest of the family members ended at 4 am on Sunday. According to the villagers, Divya, resident of Ram Shahpur village of Munshiganj Kotwali police station area, was complaining of stomach ache, due to which she reached Sanjay Gandhi Hospital for treatment.
Doctors accused of negligence
Villagers told that the doctors in the hospital said that Divya had stones in her gall bladder and on September 14, after giving her anesthesia, she was taken to the operation theatre. According to the villagers, Divya went into coma even before the operation and when she did not regain consciousness for 30 hours, she was referred to Lucknow. Divya’s husband Anuj Shukla accused the doctors of negligence and said that the victim was admitted to the hospital. Shukla claims that when he admitted his wife to the hospital for operation, she was completely fine and all the test reports also came back normal.
Shukla said that his wife was given anesthesia in excessive amounts, due to which her condition deteriorated and ultimately she died. He told that Divya breathed her last at 4 am on Sunday, after which the family lodged a complaint against the doctors of the hospital. According to the police, the protest started around 8 pm on Saturday night and the protesters were demanding action against the hospital and financial assistance of Rs 1 crore to the family of the deceased.
