UP News: Female teacher suspended for building boundary wall of government school, children boycotted class in protest

Angry students have boycotted classes in a government middle school in Sambhal, UP after the headmistress was suspended over the construction of a boundary wall. The children have demanded cancellation of their teacher’s suspension. The village head said that every year during the rainy season, water from the nearby lake gets accumulated in the school premises, due to which the school has to remain closed for several days. He further said that when I informed this to the Block Education Officer, he asked for a boundary wall to be built. A month ago I started the construction work of the boundary wall. On this, BEO Sultan Ahmed said that his office next to the school should also be built inside the new boundary wall. When I refused, they stopped the boundary wall work and suspended the teacher in anger. While Sambhal Basic Education Officer denied the allegation and said that Principal Deepti Yadav was getting the boundary wall constructed in the school to avoid inspection.

This is the whole matter

Actually, there is a middle school from class six to eight in Saidpur Niboula village of Asmoli block, in which about 81 students study. Principal (in-charge) of the school, Deepti Yadav, was suspended by the District Education Department on Tuesday. Naresh Kumar, husband of village head Raj Bala, said that the issue is that every year during the rainy season, water from the nearby lake gets collected in the school premises. This year, classes could not be held for a week due to water logging. When I informed this to the Block Education Officer, he asked for a boundary wall to be built. A month ago I had started the construction work of the boundary wall. BEO Sultan Ahmed said that his office next to the school should also be built inside the new boundary wall. I refused it. He stopped the construction work of the boundary wall. They suspended the headmistress over this matter. Since the suspension, the students of the school have stopped attending classes demanding cancellation of the suspension. The BEO vented out his anger on the teacher because I had refused to get his office within the boundary walls.

Only 12 students came to study – Teacher Sanjeev Kumar

In this case, Deepti Yadav said that she was accused of getting the boundary wall built. This is wrong. This construction work was done by Pradhan with the funds for the development of the village. On Tuesday I was handed my suspension letter. I have been teaching in school for eight years and suddenly, I have been suspended on false charges. Despite doing good work in school, I have been suspended, which is a form of mental harassment. Naresh Kumar said that Deepti Yadav worked so hard that changes were seen in the school in the last eight years. Assistant teacher Sanjeev Kumar, who replaced Deepti Yadav on Wednesday, said only 12 students came to school on Thursday because they felt that their headmistress had been unfairly suspended.
