UP News: Explosion in firecracker factory in Meerut shakes the area, two killed and many injured, rescue operation underway

Meerut News: On Tuesday morning, a loud explosion shook the entire area in a house located in Lohia Nagar in Meerut district of Uttar Pradesh. People were frightened by the massive explosion that took place in a firecracker factory here. The explosion was so strong that along with the house in which the firecrackers were being made, two-three nearby houses also collapsed. Two people have died in the accident while many have been injured. On receiving information, police reached the spot and are engaged in relief and rescue work. It is being told that there is a possibility of many people being buried in the house. The explosion was so powerful that even the pillars of the 33 KV line broke. Many people going on the road were injured. The nearby houses for about three to four kilometers were shaken by the blast. The house that collapsed is said to be that of Sanjay Gupta, which was taken on rent by a person named Gaurav Tyagi. Senior police officials have reached the spot and are busy in investigation.

It is being told that the place where the work of making firecrackers was going on is near a school. The explosion happened before school time otherwise the loss of life and property could have been much greater. Along with the collapse of three houses, even remote houses were shaken by the explosion. Apart from the school, the glasses of all the nearby houses were broken. There is chaos on the spot. Many seriously burnt injured have been sent to the hospital. A large quantity of firecrackers have been recovered from the debris. Rescue operation is going on.
