UP News: Dengue cases in Ghaziabad increase to 1,245, so many patients for the first time in a decade

Ghaziabad: The number of dengue cases in the district has reached its highest level in 10 years, till Wednesday 1245 cases have been registered in the district. There have been four deaths due to dengue this season. According to district data, Ghaziabad recorded 226 cases in 2014, 621 in 2015, 232 in 2017, 68 in 2018, 88 in 2019, 15 in 2020, 1,238 in 2021 and 662 in 2022. The previous highest figure was 1,623 cases in 2013. Health officials, however, claimed that the increased numbers are a result of better diagnostic services and reporting this year. “We have arranged for about 104 dengue beds in government hospitals,” says Dr Rakesh Gupta, district surveillance officer. Four deaths were recorded this year. District surveillance officer Dr Rakesh Gupta said, our surveillance teams were covering the entire city and they identified sensitive areas where there was hectic activity. Officials said the list of sensitive areas in dengue cases included Govindapuram, Bhanhera, Other areas including Mirzapur, Vijay Nagar, Harsaan, Indirapuram and Vasundhara are included.
