UP News: Country’s first rapid train will run in Ghaziabad from October 20, know what is special

The Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) is a new rail-based semi-high speed, high frequency commuter transit system. It runs at a speed of 180 km per hour. The country’s first rapid rail will run from Sahibabad to Duhai in Ghaziabad. This is the first section of the Delhi-Meerut Corridor. Its length is 17 kilometers. There are Sahibabad, Ghaziabad, Guldhar, Duhai and Duhai Depot stations on this route. Rapid rail has been tested. Its speed will be 160 kilometers per hour.

A total of eight RRTS corridors have been identified to be built in the National Capital Region (NCR). Of these, three corridors have been given priority for implementation in the first phase. Which includes Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut Corridor, Delhi-Gurugram-SNB-Alwar Corridor and Delhi-Panipat Corridor. Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS is being prepared at a cost of more than Rs 30 thousand crore. It will connect Delhi to Meerut in less than an hour, passing through the urban centers of Ghaziabad, Muradnagar and Modinagar.

RRTS developed in the country is a state-of-the-art regional mobility solution. It can be compared with the world’s best RRTS. This will provide safe, reliable and modern transportation facilities from one city to another in the country. In line with the PM Gatishakti National Master Plan, the RRTS network will have extensive multi-modal integration with railway stations, metro stations, bus services etc. This will provide access to economic activities, employment, education and health care opportunities in the area. It will also help in reducing vehicle congestion and air pollution.
