The police had called him to Uparkot Kotwali police station in Aligarh for passport verification. Daughter Sumail alleged that they were demanding more money for making the passport, whereas Ishrat Jahan had requested the police to get the passport made.

The victim’s family member Sardar Ahmed told that while Nusrat was getting a passport made to go to Haj, he told that Ishrat was getting calls for money. Ishrat was told that the passport work would proceed only if she paid the money. However, how much money was being asked for getting the passport made. There is no information about this. It is being told that the in-charge of Turkman Gate outpost was looking after the passport inquiry of Ishrat Jahan. Had the passport been made, Ishrat Jahan would have been able to go for Haj, but before that, an accident took her to the hospital.

Although SSP Kala Nidhi Naithani has inspected the incident, he said that the firing was from the government pistol of Bhujpura outpost incharge Manoj Sharma. Ishrat Jahan has been injured by the bullet. Doctors are treating at Jenan Medical College. At the same time, family members told that they had come to Kotwali police station for passport verification work. Ishrat Jahan’s son and another person were also nearby.
