Agra. The agitation for the demand of underground metro on Mahatma Gandhi Marg (MG Road) is getting intensified. Common citizens have also joined this movement which started on the call of traders. City dwellers and businessmen, under the banner of underground Metro Sangharsh Samiti, agitated against the elevated metro line, kept all commercial establishments on MG Road closed on Thursday. Not a single shop opened from Pratappura to Bhagwan Talkies. Petrol pumps also did not open. From 11 am to 2 pm, voices were raised for the demand of underground metro in the entire city.
Agra will remain closed if underground metro is not built on MG Road
A public meeting was held at the martyr’s memorial at Sanjay Place. In this, it was announced that if the underground metro is not built on MG Road, Agra will remain closed. Not only the traders and businessmen of the city, but also the public representatives along with the enlightened and prominent people were present in the public meeting. Sunil Vikal, presiding over the public meeting, said that the government elected by the will of the people will take care of the choice of the people of Agra. The government will not take any step by hurting public sentiment. Sunil Vikal said that if the people’s representatives raise their voice strongly, then the people will re-elect them.
The city will only benefit from the underground metro: MLA Dharmesh
MLA Dr. GS Dharmesh said that the demand for metro was not made by any public representative, the proposal was brought by the central government. The state government gave its approval. By making metro underground, there will be an option of elevated road. When the representatives of the committee came to meet me, I made necessary amendments in their memorandum. The MLA further said, “Meeting with the people’s representatives, in one voice asked the Chief Minister for the underground metro and he (CM) accepted it and directed to get it tested. The report of the metro has been made, the city will be covered by the underground metro itself.” will benefit”.

MLC Vijay Shivhare appreciated the efforts of the Sangharsh Samiti. 25 crore people of Agra will face problems if demand is not met
Sunil Aggarwal said that this is the problem of 25 crore people of Agra. If we have to close Agra on need, we will do so, this is everyone’s problem. We have to unite and fulfill our demand from our elected government. Social worker KC Jain said that the elevated metro project is a mistake for MG Road. It has to be rectified soon, there is no need for any thought in this. Metro is for the people of Agra. The people of Lucknow cannot even imagine the damage caused to the city by the elevated metro. This is not for one day but for hundred years.

Trader Vipul Bansal said that how permission was given to cut five thousand trees in TTZ area while common man goes to jail for cutting one tree.
