Ashutosh was a teacher in a private school

30-year-old Ashutosh Raina, resident of village Tishti of Rasulabad police station in Kanpur Dehat, Uttar Pradesh, was a teacher in a private school. According to Ashutosh’s elder brother Abhilash, on December 16, the brother had left to go to the house of his uncle Ramnarayan, who lives in Bilhaur. After this he did not return. Even after a lot of searching, no information about him was found. It is being told that Priyanshi, 6 year old daughter of Motu, a resident of Kanjdan Dera, was slightly injured after a motorcycle collision near Khajuri intersection of Bilhaur Kotwali area on Bilhaur-Rasulabad road. On this, the girl’s family snatched Ashutosh’s motorcycle and started pressurizing him for treatment.

Motorcycle returned, brother’s information not given

After this Ashutosh reached uncle’s house on foot. He informed about the incident over the phone. Meanwhile, the girl was taken to Bilhaur City Hospital for treatment. After getting the information, Abhilash also reached the hospital. Where he came to know that the girl had been taken to Kanpur for a CT scan. On reaching there the girl’s family started pressurizing her to give the money. Ashutosh gave about 15 thousand rupees on this. After this, the girl’s family later returned the motorcycle, but did not give any information about her brother. Later, on the night of 23 December, the body was found in front of village Mallhan Purva of Bangarmau Kotwali area. This dead body was in a mutilated condition on the sand in the middle of the river Ganga.

Postmortem report confirms murder with heavy object

Police sent the body for postmortem. The postmortem report states that death was caused by an attack on the head with a heavy object. Abhilash lodged a complaint in Bilhaur police station regarding the matter. Abhilash alleged that the Billaur police station was procrastinating in this matter after the incident. If the police had not been negligent and the matter had been investigated seriously, perhaps his brother would not have died.

The police kept procrastinating

According to Abhilash, while going to her maternal uncle’s place in Bilhaur, the girl was slightly injured when she collided with her brother’s motorcycle near Khajuri village. Even after paying the money for his treatment, the brother was not found. On inquiring from the girl’s father Motu, he was repeatedly told that he would come. But, this did not happen. Bilhaur police station was informed about the incident. This matter was avoided by saying that it was a matter of Rasulabad police station. When the police did not take any action, he himself started searching for his brother. During this time, on checking the footage of the CCTV camera of the hospital, on the night of 16th December, the day of the incident, the injured girl’s father Motu, his nephew Vikas and another youth were seen in the footage along with brother Ashutosh.

Police did not become active despite CCTV footage

After this, late at night Vikas and Motu were seen taking his brother Ashutosh out of the hospital on foot. Everyone returned to the hospital again at night. After some time, Motu’s nephew Vikas came out taking Ashutosh with him on the motorcycle. Both of them were also seen together in the CCTV camera footage of a dhaba on the way. According to Abhilash, he gave all this information to the police. But instead of taking any action, the police kept threatening to register an FIR against him and send him to jail. After repeated requests, the incident was reported to Rasulabad police station instead of Bilhaur police station and an FIR was asked to be lodged there. According to Abhilash, if Bilhaul police station had been active in time, his brother’s life could have been saved. According to Abhilash, his relative called the Superintendent of Police of Jaunpur district, even after this the police remained idle in the name of investigation.
