Chandraprabha Wildlife Sanctuary: Chandraprabha Wildlife Scenic Sanctuary is situated in the lap of Vindhya Mountains in Chandauli district, about 57 km from Varanasi. There are high hills here and there are also wall paintings made in the caves. Apart from the gardens, scaffolding, sunset point and rocky caves, the evening decorated with traditional dance and music of the tribals living here becomes a part of lifelong memories. Asiatic lions once ruled here: The Chandraprabha Wildlife Sanctuary, spread over an area of ​​78 square kilometres, is named after the Chandraprabha river. It means moonlight of the moon. It is a tributary of the Karmnasa and both the rivers join the Ganges. The sanctuary was established in the year 1957. For the next two decades, the sanctuary remained popular for Asiatic lions. Today leopard, hyena, wolf, wild boar, sambar, chinkara, chital, porcupine, gharial, python and many species of birds are found here. There is also a bird park in the sanctuary, in which more than 150 species of birds are found. Who would not want to see the Naugarh fort located nearby on the Kaimur range and the Vijaygarh fort, which contains the secrets of the novel ‘Chandrakanta’.
