It is raining intermittently in many districts of Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday. The Meteorological Department has issued an alert predicting heavy rain in six districts. The weather is likely to be affected by rain activities from Tuesday night to Wednesday.

Zonal Meteorological Centre, Lucknow has issued a ‘red alert’ of heavy rain for Lakhimpur Kheri, Bahraich, Shravasti, Sitapur, Barabanki and Gonda. Along with this, ‘Orange Alert’ has been issued for four districts Hardoi, Lucknow, Siddharthnagar and Basti.

Whereas in Gonda, after clear weather in the morning, it rained from 3:30 pm on Tuesday. Earlier, the low lying areas were flooded due to the rain during the night. The district hospital premises are also filled with water. In view of this, all schools and colleges remained closed in Gonda on Tuesday.

Due to heavy rains in Barabanki district, many localities of the city became islands. Officials said that the teams of NDRF and State Disaster Response Force SDRF, which arrived for relief and rescue, have so far evacuated 500 people from waterlogged areas.

Ayodhya Division Commissioner Saurabh Dayal, after inspecting the affected localities, said that more than 10 localities in the urban area have been submerged in rain water. 12 boats of NDRF and SDRF are currently engaged in relief work in the areas affected by water logging and evacuating people.

According to the Relief Commissioner’s Office, in the last 48 hours, more than 100 mm rainfall has been recorded in seven districts of Uttar Pradesh and 50 mm rainfall has been recorded in 10 other districts. Apart from this, more than 250 mm rainfall has occurred in some parts of two districts, Bahraich and Barabanki.

The State Emergency Operation Center is operational 24 hours at the Relief Commissioner’s office. Along with this, there is also a toll free number for the common people. Funds have already been allocated to the districts for relief work.
