Lucknow: Unannounced power cuts amid the scorching heat in UP have increased the difficulties of the people. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath (CM Yogi Adityanath) has expressed strong displeasure after the complaints of power cuts came to the fore in the entire state including the capital Lucknow. He has given instructions to set up a control room.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed his displeasure by summoning Energy Minister AK Sharma and Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) President M Devraj. The Chief Minister has ordered to improve the electricity system of the state immediately. The Chief Minister said that the electricity system of the state should be improved immediately. Giving strict instructions to the officers, he said that wherever there is a disturbance in the state, it should be rectified immediately. Be it a city or a village, wherever there is information about damage to the transformer, the transformer should be replaced with immediate effect.

The Chief Minister said that the policy announced by the government regarding the electricity system should be implemented promptly. According to the state government’s electricity policy, there is a provision of 24 hours power supply to district headquarters, 22 hours to tehsil headquarters and 18 hours to rural areas. The Chief Minister said that electricity should be supplied according to the roster. He gave clear instructions that there should be no power shortage anywhere in the state. If needed, electricity should be made available to the general public by purchasing electricity as per the requirement.

Along with this, the Chief Minister also clearly fixed the responsibility of the officers. He said that the feeder-wise accountability of the officers should be fixed. Not only this, the concerned officers should review every district daily, a control room should be set up in every district. The District Magistrate should regularly monitor the power system in the district.

In view of the instructions of the Chief Minister, Energy Minister AK Sharma has expressed his displeasure over the unexpected power cuts, tripping and improper shutdowns being done on the pretext of repairs during the scorching heat and heat wave. He has said that instructions have already been given for complete preparation and monitoring to deal with any adverse situation. But, this has no effect on the officers of the department.

He has warned of strict action on the part of the electrical personnel for not behaving well with the consumers and for not bringing change in the work culture to improve the power system. It is being told that he said that the entire Shakti Bhavan is not conscious about electrical works. Consumers are not getting any benefit from the officers sitting here. Together they are defaming the Energy Department. Due to the negligence of the personnel of the electricity department, the system is not coming back on track.
