UP civic elections: Maharajganj tops with 66.48 percent polling, Prayagraj’s worst record, see figures

UP Nikay Chunav 2023: In Uttar Pradesh body elections In the first phase, once again the apathy of the urban voters was seen. In the elections held in 37 districts in the state, urban voters with 10 municipal corporations did not show much interest in coming out of their houses.

According to the State Election Commission, 52 percent voters exercised their franchise in 37 districts in the first phase of civic elections in the state on Thursday. Of these, Maharajganj district recorded the highest voter turnout of 66.48 percent, while Prayagraj proved to be the worst and only 33.61 percent voting took place due to the indifference of the voters here.

Voting graph fell down in 34 districts

According to the data of the State Election Commission, out of 37 districts, 34 remained such, in which the voting percentage went down as compared to the 2017 elections. Due to the apathy of the voters here, there was a decline in the vote percentage graph. On the other hand, only three districts registered an increase in the voting percentage. These include Gorakhpur, Jaunpur and Moradabad.
