Union Cabinet: Modi government will give 15000 drones to women self-help groups, know what will be the benefit from it

Prime Minister Narendra Modi The Union Cabinet, chaired by D.K., on Wednesday approved a scheme under which the central government will provide drones to 15,000 women self-help groups in the next four years.

Union Minister Anurag gave information about this scheme after the meeting.

Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur told reporters on Wednesday that the decision in this regard was taken in the cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday. Thakur said, the objective of the scheme is to provide drones to 15,000 selected women SHGs to provide rental services to farmers for agricultural purpose during 2024-25 to 2025-2026.

Drones will be provided to women groups during 2023-24 and 2025-26

The Modi government at the Center has decided to provide drones to women self-help groups during 2023-24 and 2025-2026. SHGs will be able to provide drones as rental services to farmers for agricultural use.

How will women benefit from the scheme?

The initiatives approved under the scheme will provide sustainable business and livelihood support to 15,000 SHGs. With this, women will be able to earn additional income of at least Rs 1,00,000 per year. Prime Minister Modi, in his Independence Day speech on August 15, had announced from the Red Fort to empower SHGs with drone technology.

This scheme will cost Rs 1261 crore

The drone scheme is estimated to cost around Rs 1,261 crore in the next four years. PIB Director General posted on his timeline that central government assistance, 80 per cent of the cost of the drone and accessories/accessories charges up to a maximum of Rs 8 lakh, will be provided.

Spraying of pesticides will be done through drones

Giving information about the scheme, Anurag Thakur said, this scheme is important as part of PM Modi’s ‘Lakhpati Didi’ initiative. There are approximately 10 crore women who are part of some self-help groups. Through this drone scheme, drones will improve efficiency in spraying fertilizers and pesticides. For this, five-day mandatory drone pilot training and additional 10-day training for nutrient and pesticide application for agricultural purposes is to be provided.
