undue interference

The government has not only rejected the comments being made by other countries on India’s internal matters, but has also warned of a sharp reply. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar has advised that other countries should refrain from making political comments. It is noteworthy that a few days ago, America and Germany had issued statements on the arrest of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal by the Enforcement Directorate. After this, the Indian Foreign Ministry had summoned the top officials of the embassies of these countries and expressed strong objection. Despite this, America again reiterated its statement and added the issue of freezing the bank accounts of Congress by the Income Tax Department.

Foreign Minister Jaishankar has clearly said that if such rhetoric continues, then those countries should be prepared for a very strong response. It is a well-known fact that many countries try to interfere in the internal affairs of other countries to increase their dominance and influence at the global level. America and some European countries are at the forefront in doing this. These countries consider themselves special and think that they are the masters of the world. These countries try to create pressure under the guise of democracy, human rights, religious and civil rights, morality etc. Jaishankar has rightly underlined that these are his old habits and bad habits. The principle of respect for the sovereignty of each other country is a fundamental principle in the international system.

If a country does not follow the established conducts, traditions and behaviour, then it should also be prepared that other countries will express their views on its politics and law and order. Recently, China had objected to the development projects of Arunachal Pradesh and the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He has also named many places in the state. Jaishankar has again underlined that Arunachal Pradesh is an integral part of India and will always remain so. Earlier, China had also given baseless statements on Kashmir and Ladakh. The people of India have the right to think, support, criticize or protest about what is happening and what should happen, what is right and what is wrong under the constitutional and legal system in India. Be it America, Germany or China, they should worry about their countries. Offensive comments can damage mutual trust and affect relationships.
