UGC Guidelines: Universities and colleges will now have to fill at least 75% of the posts with regular teachers against the sanctioned posts for UGC grant and recognition. Apart from this, it will be necessary for universities and colleges to obtain NAAC/NBA/NIRF ranking. UGC has released the draft of Fitness of College for Receiving Grant Rule. Besides, suggestions or feedback on this draft have also been invited from common people, academicians and institutions till March 4.
UGC changed the rules
UGC has changed the rules under the provisions of the existing Act. To get funds from UGC, a college must offer more than three programs and at least 60% must be recognized. If the number of programs offered is less than three, each program must be accredited. Teachers will have to follow the UGC pay scale or state government norms. Also, the reservation policy of the Central and State Government will have to be followed. The university or college will have to be included in the NIRF ranking. If he has participated five times, he has to appear in the ranking list at least three times. If he has participated only three times, he will have to appear in the list twice.
