Cannot take divorce after one year of marriage

Special provisions regarding divorce have been made in the UCC Bill presented in the Uttarakhand Assembly. In which, except in some special circumstances, no divorce petition will be presented in the court until the period of one year has not been completed.

Three months jail and fine of Rs 10,000 for not reporting ‘live-in’

The bill proposes to make it mandatory for live-in couples to give official information and give inheritance to the children of the couples like biological children. The bill said that if information about living-in is not given within a month, a punishment of three months’ imprisonment or a fine of Rs 10,000 or both will be effective. In this regard, a provision for punishment has also been made for giving wrong information.

Live-in woman will have to pay alimony if she leaves

If a live-in woman is left by her husband, she can claim maintenance from him.

Scheduled Tribes were kept out of the scope of UCC

The most special thing about the UCC Bill presented in the Uttarakhand Assembly is that the Scheduled Tribes residing in the state have been kept out of its scope.
