Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has introduced the Uniform Civil Code Uttarakhand 2024 Bill in the state assembly in Dehradun. At the same time, during the presentation of the bill, the opposition MLAs created a ruckus in the House. In view of the uproar by the opposition, the proceedings of the House have been adjourned till 2 pm. The opposition alleges that a copy of the draft of the UCC bill was not given. Regarding the bill, Congress says that the government wants to avoid questions. For this reason the draft copy was not given. Congress said that the government is hiding something on UCC. If this bill is implemented, Uttarakhand will be the first state in the country to implement UCC after independence. If the UCC law is implemented in the state, then the same laws regarding marriage, divorce, alimony, land, property and inheritance will apply to all citizens, irrespective of their religion.
