Organization C-Step in collaboration with the State Pollution Board has released a report on the pollution status of six cities of Jharkhand. In this, such cities have been selected, where mining and transportation work is done. The organization has issued reports of Dumka, Pakur, Chaibasa, Sahibganj, Ramgarh and Hazaribagh. The amount of PM-10, PM-2.5, nitrogen oxide (NO2) and sulfur dioxide (SO2) released per year in these cities has been included.

It has been found that transport is the biggest cause of pollution in Dumka, Pakur, Chaibasa, Sahibganj and Hazaribagh. In this, such places have been selected, which are airshed areas (mining affected areas). Apart from this, the report of the cities of these areas has also been compiled. Its detailed analysis has also been done. Transport is the biggest cause of pollution in other districts except Ramgarh.

More than 14 thousand tonnes of PM-10 coming in Ramgarh every year:

Every year more than 14 thousand tonnes of PM-10 is coming in the pollution affected areas of Ramgarh. It is a particle found in the air. Similarly, in Hazaribagh also around 2500 PM 10 is entering the atmosphere every year. In comparison, around 519 tonnes of PM 10 is entering the atmosphere in Dumka.

In Ramgarh and Hazaribagh, 7000 tonnes of nitrogen is also coming into the atmosphere. In comparison, the amount of total pollution in the city is very less. In an area like Ramgarh, if there is more than four thousand tonnes of PM-2.5 per year in polluted places, while only around 1400 tonnes of PM-2.5 is being released in the city.

More than four lakh vehicles in a city like Hazaribagh:

It has been found in the survey that there are more than four lakh vehicles in a city like Hazaribagh. This is a major cause of pollution. There are 1.5 lakh vehicles in Dumka and more than 1.25 lakh vehicles in a small town like Ramgarh. Similarly, there are more than 80 thousand vehicles in Sahibganj and more than 45 thousand in Pakur. These vehicles also emit pollution.

Those cities have been selected for the survey, where mining and transportation are maximum.
