Eastern Railway has given information about this news. He said that the necessary infrastructure to run 12-coach local trains on all the branches of Sealdah is almost complete. This will be completed within a month after the completion of Lok Sabha elections. After this a new service will be started.
Three lines of trains in Sealdah branch of Eastern Railway
There are three lines of trains in the Sealdah branch of Eastern Railway. Sealdah South, Sealdah Main i.e. Sealdah-Ranaghat-Krishnanagar and Sealdah North i.e. Sealdah-Bangaon section. Out of this, all the EMU trains of Sealdah South were made with 12 coaches, but all the trains of the other two sections were not of 12 coaches. In fact, most of the trains had nine coaches. But due to the huge crowd in both these branches of Sealdah, the problems of the passengers in the nine-coach train were increasing. Eastern Railway officials thought of increasing the number of rooms for passenger convenience but it was not easy to implement because, if the room in the train increases, the length of the train will also increase. But all the stations of these two divisions of Sealdah are not that big in length.

Work on increasing the length of the platform continues
Therefore, first of all the Eastern Railway Authority started the work of increasing the length of the platform. Non-interlocking work for signals and yard layout changes is also ongoing along with associated overhead cable work. Eastern Railway officials said that the task was not easy as the Sealdah branch is one of the busiest stations of the Eastern Railway. Because, to do this work, the train movement will have to be stopped for so long, which is not possible at a busy station like Sealdah. Amidst various difficulties, the work of increasing the length of platform number 4 of Sealdah station is nearing completion. Work is also going on on Platform 1, 2 and 3.

Eastern Railway Authority said that it will be possible to run 12 coach trains on all sections of Sealdah only after the completion of extension of the length of platform number 5. He believes that all the work will be completed within a month after the Lok Sabha elections end in June. After this, local trains of 12 coaches will run on all sections of Sealdah. The passengers are likely to get the benefits from the month of July.
