Train Cancelled: Brake on operation of these trains on Lucknow-Varanasi route for 45 days, see full list here

Train Cancelled: The operation of many trains passing through Varanasi Junction of Northern Railway Lucknow Division will be affected for about one and a half months. Due to yard remodeling at Varanasi railway station, non-interlocking work will be done from September 1 to October 15.

Due to this, the operation of many other trains including Punjab Mail, Upasana, Varanasi Intercity, Lucknow Chhapra, Marudhar, Shuttle Train, Doon Express will be affected. Along with cancellation of trains, they will be run by changing routes and short terminating them.

The Indian Railway Board has put its seal on the cancellation and diversion of trains. Along with this, the process of yard re-modelling has started at Cantt station. Non interlocking before time from September 1, first non interlocking work will start. Along with increasing the width and length of the platforms, the newly constructed platform number 10 and 11 will be added.

Passengers will not be able to travel by these trains

Senior DCM Rekha Sharma said that the Lucknow-Varanasi Intercity Updown will have short terminated at Lohta from September 20 to October 15. Apart from this, Patna Jammutawi Archana Express, Danapur Anandvihar Jansadharan Express, Maldatown Anandvihar Terminal Weekly Train, New Delhi-Maldatown, Guwahati-Okha Express, Gandhidham-Kamakhya Express, Chhapra-Lucknow Junction, Jallianwala Bagh Express, Durgiana Express, Howrah-Lalkuan Weekly, Banaras-Lucknow Intercity, Banaras-Dehradun Janata Express, Kashi Vishwanath Express, Banaras-Anandvihar Garibrath trains have been canceled on different dates from both sides.

Changes made in the route of these trains

Raxaul Anand Vihar Sadbhavna Express running via Ayodhya, Sagauli and Sitamarhi will be run via Alamnagar, Lucknow, Sultanpur. Upasana Express will come to Lucknow via Deendayal Upadhyay Junction Sultanpur. Howrah-Dehradun Kumbh Express will also run on this route. Punjab Mail will be run via Barabanki, Howrah Yognagari Rishikesh Doon Express Chhapra Gorakhpur via Barabanki. Farakka Express will run via Deendayal Upadhyay Station, Prayagraj, Kanpur.

Status of short terminated and originated trains

Banaras-New Delhi Kashi Vishwanath Express, New Delhi-Varanasi Vande Bharat Express will be short terminated at Banaras. Apart from this, Varanasi-Jammu Tawi Express, Mahakal Express at Sultanpur, Ahmedabad-Varanasi Express at Sultanpur, Lucknow-Varanasi shuttle train at Shivpur, Marudhar Express will be short terminated and short originated at Lucknow. These will happen on different dates.

According to railway officials, the power cabin is to be shifted to the newly constructed building along with connecting all the lines of Cantt station to the tracks of Varanasi station and Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Junction end. Because of this, railway passengers may have to face problems for 45 days. However, after this the passengers will get better facilities. Their journey will be safer and faster than before.

  • Kashi Mahakal Express will depart and terminate at Sultanpur on 12, 14, 19, 21, 26, 28 September and 3, 5, 10 and 12 October.

  • Varanasi-Ahmedabad Weekly Express will arrive and depart up to Sultanpur on 16,23,30 September, 7,14 October

  • Shuttle Superfast Express will come and go from Shivpur station from 11 September to 16 October

  • Marudhar Express will depart and terminate at Lucknow from 11 September to 15 October.

  • Varanasi-Lucknow Intercity Express will be operated from Lohta station from 20 September to 15 October.

According to railway officials, the route of 37 pairs of long distance trains passing through Varanasi Cantt station has been changed. Most of the trains will go via Atraulia Road, Jaunpur, Shahganj instead of the scheduled route. Some trains will be run via Prayagraj, Sultanpur via Ayodhya. Similarly, the pressure of some trains will be reduced via Jeevnathpur, Varanasi, Jaunpur and Aurihar. After completion of the work, railway passengers will get better facilities than before.
