Track maintainer dies after being hit by goods train in West Singhbhum

Chaibasa: Tapas Vishwas (32), a track maintainer of the engineering department of Chakradharpur Railway Division, died after being hit by a goods train due to fog in West Singhbhum. The accident took place on the third line near Sanjay river culvert under Pandrashali OP of Chaibasa-Kharsawan railway section at 5 am on Friday. As soon as information about the incident was received, Pandrashali OP police reached the spot and sent the body to Sadar Hospital for post-mortem. Tapas was originally a resident of Nutanveerpur village of Nakasipara police station area of ​​Nadia district of West Bengal.

The personnel told that Tapas was on duty in the morning. While patrolling the site, he reached near the culvert located on Sanjay River. There was heavy fog in the morning. At the same time a goods train was coming on the track. When Tapas saw the lights of the train, he ran to save his life but by then he was hit by the train, due to which he died. Here, after getting information about the incident, his family members reached Sadar Hospital at around 2 o’clock in the day and took the body to their native village. Family members told that Tapas was unmarried. It had been only about seven-eight months since he joined the job.
