Three expressways to be built in Bihar and parallel bridge of JP Ganga Setu await approval from PMO

Patna. Three greenfield expressways to be built in the state along with the new six-lane bridge on river Ganga parallel to Jaypee Ganga are awaiting approval from the PMO. This includes expansion of Gorakhpur-Siliguri Expressway, Raxaul-Dighwara-Haldia and Purvanchal Express to Bhagalpur. After getting all these approvals from the PMO, other process including land acquisition for construction will start. All these projects are part of Bharatmala Project Phase-2.

Projects costing more than Rs 2,000 crore require the approval of the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA), headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Regarding these projects, the PMO had sought clarification on some points by correspondence with the concerned officials. He has also been sent the correct answer to the correspondence from the state government. In such a situation, the approval of CCEA is awaited for all these projects. As soon as the approval is received from there, the ministry will get the green signal to start the process of their construction.

Ongoing construction process of Varanasi-Kolkata and Amas-Darbhanga Greenfield Expressway

Five greenfield expressways were announced in the second phase of the Bharatmala project in the state. Out of this, Varanasi-Kolkata Expressway and Amas-Darbhanga Expressway have been approved. The process of land acquisition is also going on in Bihar for the construction of Varanasi-Kolkata Expressway. Along with this, the remaining land is being acquired for the Amas-Darbhanga Expressway. Along with this, the construction process has started in some places.

Road work from JP Ganga Path to Ashok Rajpath will start in a week

To connect Krishna Ghat with JP Ganga Path, the remaining connectivity work in the water part will start from November. Before this, the construction work of the road connecting Krishna Ghat to Ashok Rajpath is likely to start from next week. People can directly reach Ashok Rajpath after getting down from Krishna Ghat from JP Ganga Path. Therefore, for the convenience of the people, along with increasing the width of this already constructed road, it will be repaired. For this, the boundary of the Chemistry Ground of Science College will be broken. There will be a site visit on Wednesday regarding this. The designer will come and see everything. In this, the land acquisition portion will be marked. The official source of BSRDC said that due to excess water on the banks of Krishna Ghat, no work is possible at present. Work is possible after the ground dries up after the water recedes. Before this, the work of construction of about 500 meter service road, which will connect Krishna Ghat to Ashok Rajpath, will be started.

Connectivity will be through elevated road

Elevated road is being prepared to provide connectivity to JP Ganga Path near Krishna Ghat. For this, about 400 meters long elevated approach road will be built. Piling work has been completed to make elevated road. Due to excess water near the ghat, the work is stopped in that part. Work will start from November. An official source told that first a part will be prepared and facilities will be provided to the people for commuting. This work is likely to be completed by December. After this the work of the second part will be done. The source said that by making an underpass, commuting facility will be provided on the JP Ganga Path.

About 500 meters long service road will be repaired to connect Krishna Ghat to Ashok Rajpath. For this, about 2100 square meters of land is to be acquired from Patna University. If there is connectivity near Krishna Ghat, the load of vehicles will be more for coming to Ashok Rajpath. That’s why the width of the service road will be increased.
