Three dozen villages of Bihar have disappeared from the map, you will also be stunned to know the havoc of nature.

Nature has wreaked havoc in Bihar to such an extent that about three dozen villages in one district have disappeared from the map. Once upon a time, people lived happily with their families in these villages. Many generations have lived in these villages and seen many monsoons. But hardly anyone would have thought that the present generation would find the village missing. In fact, the villages being mentioned have now vanished from existence. The people living in these villages have now migrated to other places and where till now they used to live on their land like owners, now they have neither land nor house there. The entire village has disappeared from the map.

Flood comes as a disaster in Bihar

When floods occur due to rain in Bihar, the concern of a large population increases every year. Due to rain the rivers swell. The problem of flood becomes so severe that everything gets merged in this flood. On one hand, people start migrating, on the other hand, it is no less than a challenge for them to feed themselves and their families every day. At the same time, when the water level of the rivers starts decreasing, the problem of erosion comes to the fore and people’s houses start getting submerged in the river. The destruction of the villages being mentioned here is also due to erosion. This is true of Gopalganj district where due to erosion of Gandak river only three dozen villages got submerged in the river.

35 villages disappeared from the map.

Due to erosion of Gandak river, dozens of villages disappeared from the map of Gopalganj district. Dhoop Sagar, Bhagwanpur, Tand Par, Vishambharpur Tiwari Tola, Vishambharpur Bazaar, Hajam Tola, Ahirtoli, Bhasahi, Niranjana, Dharampur of Sadar block, Bhojali, Rajwahi, Tengrahi, Semrahi, Maqsudpur, Khap, Kathgharwan, Jagiritola, Shahpur Pakdia of Barauli in Kuchaykot. , 35 villages including Semrahiya have been submerged in the river. Their existence has now completely ended.

Why is the danger increasing?

When there is heavy rain in Nepal, it affects Bihar also. Swelling is seen in many rivers of Bihar. The nature of Gandak river has been fierce. The river remains in spate from June to September. When does the mood of the river turn bad, when does it start causing erosion, when does flood cause devastation in villages? No one knows when it will engulf people’s homes. Every year, people of 43 villages of six blocks of the district living in the area between the dam and the river have been struggling with the terrible nature of the river. Most of the villagers spent almost half the year on the embankments. But this time the Gandak river has calmed down long ago.

Why did you start worrying?

If the Gandak river does not take a more violent form, then the people of the low lying areas get its benefit and they are saved from migrating. Due to decreasing water level of Gandak River, the risk of erosion has increased. Erosion started on Sunday near Bhasahi village of Kuchaykot block. Geo bags are being thrown into the river. The danger of rising water in Gandak river definitely remains till September. Generally, the department also remains in high alert mode till September. But now due to fluctuations in the mood of the river, there is an alert from the department from June 1 to October 31. Shortage of water is a matter of serious concern. This may increase the risk of erosion. People are also advised to plant trees.

Migration becomes a compulsion.

Let us tell you that due to rain in Bihar last month, rivers were in spate. People had breathed a sigh of relief for a few days when the monsoon returned again and the continuous rains in the past few days have increased the water level of the rivers. The problem of erosion occurs in many areas of Bihar. Be it the spate of Kosi river or the spate of Ganga, people are forced to migrate. When the problem of erosion comes to the fore, they demolish their houses and move to safer places. There are many such areas in the state where villages have almost ceased to exist. Every year flood comes as a challenge and people get busy in saving their homes from being destroyed.
