The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Saturday raided three different locations in Vaishali of Amit Kumar alias Bacha Rai, the main accused in the 2016 board exam topper scam in Bihar. This action was taken simultaneously at Bacha Rai’s residence, college and training college at Kiratpur Rajaram in Bhagwanpur. According to ED sources, during the investigation, a large amount of cash, important documents and many land related documents have been recovered from Bacha Rai’s hideout. In this action, a total of Rs 3 crore cash, 100 land related documents and many other documents have been recovered. It is said that around noon two machines were also called for counting the cash. From this it is being estimated that the recovered amount could be quite huge. ED’s raid continued till late night.
Interrogation of Bachcha Rai and family members continues
At around 8:30 in the morning, the ED team raided Bacha Rai’s house and college. A large number of police officers and soldiers are also included with the ED team. This raid continued till late evening. The ED team is interrogating Bacha Rai and other family members.
Illegal construction was going on on the attached land
This time Bacha Rai is accused of illegally occupying and carrying out construction on about 42 decimal land seized by the ED. It is said that Bacha Rai was preparing to open a plus two school on this land. In this case, on November 24, Assistant Director of ED Patna Regional Office Rajeev Ranjan had applied to Bhagwanpur police station to register an FIR against Bachha Rai. It is mentioned in the application that on October 6, ED had received information that illegal construction was being done on the land seized by ED. When it was investigated, the complaint was found to be true.
Bacha Rai came into limelight in 2016
Bacha Rai Bihar came into limelight for the first time in the country when three children from his college topped the Inter examination in 2016. But many irregularities came to light in the interviews conducted by various news channels for these children. After this, investigation into the case revealed that Bachcha Rai was running a topper manufacturing factory in the name of a school in Vaishali. After coming to the notice of this, in 2016 itself, various investigating agencies registered cases against Bachha Rai and took their own action. ED had confiscated a lot of property of Bacha Rai. Besides, Bachha Rai also had to stay in jail for a long time.
Difficulty in occupying IDI’s land
After the topper scam was exposed, ED had seized 42 decimal land of Bacha Rai in Kiratpur Rajaram of Bhagwanpur block. After coming out of jail, Bachha Rai once again slowly started making his mark in the world of education. Later, he illegally occupied the land seized by ED and started constructing the Plus Two school building. Taking over Idi’s land became a problem for him.

Bachha Rai, along with re-establishing his old influence in the world of education, is also busy in preparing political ground for his wife. This is the reason why he was in constant touch with the ministers and MLAs of many political parties for the last two years and their programs were also being organized in his college. Bachha Rai is preparing his wife to contest elections from Vaishali Lok Sabha constituency.
