Ordinary Indian tourists prefer beaches like North Goa’s colorful Calangute, Baga, Anjuna, Candolim, Miramar, while high class, exotic and peace-seeking tourists go to Goa in South Goa’s Bambolim, Palolem, Agonda, Beaches like Colva, Betul, Majorda look good. A variety of water sports are available on almost every beach here. Goa is also known for many beautiful waterfalls and lakes. The back water channels here are also famous for their beauty. Many types of cruises run in Goa. The most famous and popular are the evening dance cruises in Mandovi river in Panaji. Whole day house boat cruise can be enjoyed in Chapora river. If you want, you can also take a private cruise. Apart from these, the floating casino cruise on Mandvi river has its own separate world. Treatment related to Ayurveda, massage, Panchakarma etc. can also be done in Goa. This place is also very famous for its festivities. Apart from Kite-Festival, Tribal Festival, Music Festival, Jazz Festival, Sunburn Festival is very famous. Then when the International Film Festival of India is held here in late November, cinematic activity starts happening all over Goa. There is a lot of tourists in Goa from Christmas to New Year. The world famous carnival takes place in February-March.

It is summer in Goa throughout the year, so it can be visited anytime. The view here is different in the rains from June to September. During this time the places to stay are available at low prices. By the way, October to March is a more favorable time to visit here. It is very hot here in April-May. There is direct train facility from many major cities of the country to Vasco-da-Gama of Goa. Many trains stop at Karmali and Madgaon stations in Goa. If you want to go by plane, Dabolim Airport is about 29 km from the capital Panaji and the newly built North Goa Airport is about 35 km away, which is connected to major cities of the country. The rest are road and sea routes.

To stay here, apart from the hotels of Goa Tourism, countless hotels, lodges, bungalows, paying-guest facilities are available from cheap to very expensive budgets. Apart from auto rickshaws, taxis, local buses, women taxis, scooty, bike, car, jeep etc. are available on rent if you want to drive yourself. Local handicrafts, colorful masks, wooden toys, items made of banana leaves, things made of coconut and pineapple fibers, colorful clothes can be taken from here only. Here spices, black pepper, cashew nuts, coffee, kokum sherbet are also of excellent quality. Cheap and beautiful items made of conch, shell, cowrie etc. can also be taken.
