These old pictures started trending on social media as soon as Chandrayaan-3 landed, see photos

Chandrayaan-3 landed on the moon on Wednesday evening, just days after the Russian lander crashed, which is considered important for lunar exploration and India’s position as a space power. As the nation celebrated this mammoth achievement, X (formerly Twitter) was flooded with pictures of former ISRO chief K Sivan. In the pictures, Sivan is seen emotional after the failure of the Chandrayaan-2 mission in 2019. In some photographs, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is also seen consoling him. The message that went out from the pictures was that failure is just a stepping stone to success. Referring to India’s previous moon mission in the congratulatory message, PM Modi said, this day is an example of how to achieve success by learning from your defeat.

Eagerly waiting for landing

Wednesday’s landing was eagerly awaited by the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) after the dismal failure of its previous mission at the last hurdle in 2019. Mission control lost contact with Chandrayaan-2’s lunar module moments before landing. K Sivan turned emotional at the ISRO headquarters in Bengaluru. The Prime Minister, who had gone to the southern city to watch the landing programme, hugged and consoled Mr Sivan. Mr. Sivan said on Chandrayaan-3 mission today, we are really excited… We were waiting for this moment for a long time. I am very happy.

Mission Control Technicians Celebrated

Prime Minister Narendra Modi smiled broadly on a live broadcast to declare the success of the mission as a victory beyond his country’s borders. On the sidelines of the BRICS Diplomatic Summit in South Africa, Modi said, on this joyous occasion, I would like to address the people of the world. Explaining further, he said, India’s successful moon mission is not only of India. This success belongs to the whole humanity. The unmanned Chandrayaan-3, which means “mooncraft” in Sanskrit, landed at 6:04 pm as mission control technicians cheered and hugged their colleagues.
