A big revelation has come to light in the matter of irregularities in the recovery of foreign liquor worth Rs 90 lakh from a truck and warehouse situated on the road in Digha police station area of Patna. Last Sunday, liquor was recovered from the warehouse and a carton filled with liquor bottles was brought to the police station in a police vehicle. Then the liquor was sent from Patna to Bhagalpur. There was a wedding in Bhagalpur at the house of a relative of a police officer posted in the same police station. Liquor was delivered for this wedding.

At the same time, two dozen bottles of liquor recovered from the truck were taken out and kept in the barrack. CDRs are being extracted from the mobile phones of about 20-25 police officers and personnel posted in this police station, including the driver and others. If any involvement in this irregularity is found during the investigation, then action is being taken against them. The source said that on the same day when liquor was recovered from the warehouse and pickup van, smuggler Sonu Kumar came to the police station and touched the feet of the SHO in his chamber. After talking for about half an hour he went back. Not only this, the chassis and engine numbers of all the six pickup vans from which liquor was recovered have also been tampered.
It was the driver posted at the police station who made the smuggler father and son meet the police station officer.
The source said that a driver posted at the police station has an important role in this liquor game. He was the one who had introduced liquor smuggler father Vinod and son Sonu to the police station. The SSP has deployed three teams to investigate this entire matter and is monitoring it himself every day. It is known that in this case, one case each has been registered for recovery of liquor from a truck and from a warehouse, while the third case has been registered for recovery of liquor of the same brand in the police barrack.
Five including SHO suspended and two sent to jail
Police had recovered a total of 8676 liters of foreign liquor from the truck late last Saturday night and from the warehouse on Sunday morning. Its price is around Rs 90 lakh. Till now, five policemen including the police station officer have been suspended in this case and two have been sent to jail. SSP suspended SI Phool Kumari, constable Rajesh Kumar and other policemen. Apart from the SHO, a case was registered against four others in Digha police station. Not only this, the police arrested Phool Kumar and Rajesh and sent them to jail.
