The state government will provide all possible help to the families of 24 laborers from Bengal killed in Mizoram: Mamta Banerjee

36 people died in the accident in Mizoram located in North-East India. This accident happened due to the breakdown of the under-construction rail bridge in Mizoram. Most of these workers are residents of Malda district of West Bengal. State Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee has expressed deep condolences, as well as assured all possible help to the family of the deceased. During a government program at the Vishwa Bangla Mela premises on Wednesday, the Chief Minister said that out of the 36 people killed in the incident, 24 are from Bengal and all of them are residents of Malda district.

Chief Secretary instructed to coordinate with Mizoram administration

The Chief Minister told that among the dead, 16 are residents of Ratua and seven are residents of English Bazar. The Chief Minister said that he was shocked to learn about the collapse of an under-construction bridge in Mizoram, in which many workers of our Malda district lost their lives. He said that following the incident, he directed the Chief Secretary of the state to immediately coordinate with the Mizoram administration for rescue/rescue operations.

District ADM instructed to visit the spot

Along with this, he has instructed the ADM of the district to visit the spot. Along with this, on the instructions of Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee, the officials of Malda district administration reached the bereaved families and ordered to provide all possible help. The Chief Minister said that we will give proper compensation to the relatives of the affected families as soon as possible.

Rail should give jobs to the relatives of those killed in the accident – CM demanded

After this incident, the Chief Minister also raised questions on the role of the Railway Minister and the management. Expressing displeasure about the railway infrastructure, he said that the people of Malda had gone to Mizoram to work on the railways. We will definitely help the families. However, we have a demand from the Railways that if someone dies during their work, then the Railways should also make arrangements to give a job to one of their family members.
