The posts of senior teachers are vacant in the medical colleges of Bihar, the responsibility of the head of the department is given to the assistant professor.

Patna. There are no permanent teachers on preferred posts in the government medical college hospitals of the state. Educational activities are being conducted by appointing medical teachers on contract in their place. Due to the shortage of senior teachers, assistant professors have been made the heads of many departments of medical colleges. In medical colleges, the work of the Head of the Department (HOD) is assigned from among the senior professors. The situation is such that the contract period of 81 doctors reinstated on contract has been extended for one year to conduct the educational activities of government medical colleges.

Work is being done by contractual teachers in medical college

Neither new appointments of assistant professors are being made in the medical colleges of the state nor promotions of assistant professors already working on a permanent basis. In such a situation, there is a shortage of permanent teachers on senior posts. In medical colleges, the post of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor and Professor has been created in every department. Post graduate studies are done only in case of holding the post of Associate Professor and Professor. In other medical colleges including GMC Bettiah, Assistant Professor has been entrusted with the responsibility of important departments like Surgery Department, Medicine Department and Orthopedic Department. On the other hand, in the absence of permanent teachers on preferred posts in medical colleges, work is being done with contractual teachers in all medical college hospitals including PMCH.

Preferred permanent post vacant in PMCH as well

In Patna Medical College Hospital, 15 senior doctors have been appointed on contract basis. It includes TB and Chest Department, Plastic Surgery, Skin and Disease, Geriatric, Biochemistry, Physiology, Eye Surgery, Department of Pediatrics, Department of Urology, Department of Dentistry and Department of Pediatric Surgery.

Same condition in other medical college hospitals including NMCH, DMCH

Similarly, in Nalanda Medical College, doctor teachers have been appointed on 10 senior posts on contract basis. 10 in Darbhanga Medical College Hospital, JLNMCH, seven in Bhagalpur, eight in SKMCH, Muzaffarpur, eight in ANMCH, Gaya, 15 in BIMS Pawapuri, three in GMC, Bettiah, four in JNKTMCH, Madhepura and one in GMC, Purnea. Has been posted on contract.
