This is none other than Rajkumar Hirani, the producer of Dunky. The audience likes his movies very much. Because he knows how to keep the audience engaged with a good story and comedy.
Rajkumar Hirani has given only hit films in his career. The director-producer has been making films for two decades and till now all of them have been successful at the box office. What’s more, all his films have been appreciated by critics and he has also received three National Film Awards, which is a remarkable record for any Bollywood filmmaker.
Rajkumar Hirani started his filmmaking career in 2003 with Munnabhai MBBS. This film was originally meant for Shahrukh Khan, but the star rejected it. Later Sanjay Dutt got this role. The film was a hit and earned more than Rs 50 crore.
Hirani had an even better performance with the film’s sequel – Lage Raho Munnabhai – which grossed Rs 126 crore worldwide. Since then, all of Hirani’s films have been successful in breaking box office records.
In 2009, 3 Idiots became the first Indian film to earn Rs 400 crore. Five years later, Rajkumar Hirani broke his own record with PK, which earned Rs 770 crore
In 2018, he directed Sanju, the highest-grossing film of Ranbir Kapoor’s career. It earned Rs 586 crore. Combined, Hirani’s films have earned a little less than Rs 2000 crore.
Now, 20 years after Munnabhai MBBS, Rajkumar Hirani is finally working with Shah Rukh Khan for his upcoming film Dunky.
Shahrukh has said on record that he wanted to work with Hirani for a long time and had asked for a script in which both could work together. Based on the issue of illegal immigration, the film also stars Taapsee Pannu, Boman Irani and Vicky Kaushal. The much awaited film will be released in theaters on December 21.
