The officer had to take a nap in Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel’s program, suspended

Gujarat: The Chief Officer of Bhuj Municipality in Kutch district has been suspended with immediate effect for taking a nap during a program attended by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel. Jigar Patel was suspended by the state’s Urban Development and Urban Housing department last evening, an official said. Patel was seen sleeping in the program of Bhuj. The footage of Patel sleeping had come to the fore.

Disciplinary action due to conduct and omission

Talking on the matter, the officer said that the order suspending him for gross negligence and lack of devotion to duty was issued under Rule 5 (1) (A) of the Gujarat Civil Services Discipline and Appeal Rules, 1971. His conduct and lapse led to disciplinary action.

Chief Minister tweeted

In the program, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel distributed documents of ownership of houses for the rehabilitation of about 14,000 people affected by the earthquake in Kutch. After the program, the Chief Minister had tweeted, after the (2001) earthquake, a large-scale rehabilitation of the affected people was done. Prime Minister Narendra Bhai Modi also has a deep attachment to Kutch, under his leadership and guidance, Kutch has overcome many difficulties and has become a leader in the path of development.
