The number of patients is continuously increasing in RIMS, 2100 beds are falling short – BollywoodWallah

Ranchi. The number of patients in RIMS is increasing day by day. Patients come here from different districts for everything from fever treatment to major surgery. This is the reason why even 2100 beds are falling short for the patients. If common diseases were treated in district hospitals, the load of patients at RIMS would have been less. There is a challenge in treating patients in RIMS because at present there is a shortage of 3500 manpower. These include doctors, nurses and paramedical staff.

Here, RIMS management says that out of 2100 beds, 190 are ICU beds. But, this is less as per the capacity of the patients. In such situations, patients have to face problems. Due to lack of beds, many patients have to undergo treatment on the floor. If manpower is increased, the number of beds along with MBBS and PG seats can also be increased.

Proposal to construct three buildings, will increase 1530 beds

RIMS management expects that with the construction of three super specialty buildings, there will be an increase of 1530 beds. This also includes mother child care bed. However, the construction work of the building has not started yet. Therefore, at present it will take two to three years to increase the beds.

316 senior doctors are needed, but only 163 are employed.

316 senior doctors are required in RIMS. But, currently only 163 are employed. At the same time, the number of senior residents is also less as per the requirement. In many departments there are one or two senior residents, due to which there is difficulty in treating patients.

What does management have to say?

RIMS has the highest load of general patients. Here patients ranging from fever to complex brain surgery have to be treated. General patients who should have been treated in Sadar Hospital also come to RIMS. The number of beds cannot be increased without increasing doctors and manpower. The situation is expected to improve in a month or two.
