One Nation-One Election: The first meeting of the committee formed by the Central Government regarding One Country, One Election was held under the chairmanship of former President of the country and chairman of the committee, Ramnath Kovind. The high-level committee led by former President Ram Nath Kovind to explore the feasibility of holding simultaneous elections in the country (One Nation-One Election) discussed the modalities to decide on its action plan and hold discussions with the stakeholders. To do this, a meeting was held here on Saturday. The statement after the committee meeting said that the committee formed to explore the feasibility of holding simultaneous elections has decided to invite recognized national and state parties to gather their views on the issue. The statement also said that the committee will also invite the Law Commission to give suggestions on the issue of holding simultaneous elections (One Nation-One Election). Let us tell you that the government had notified an eight-member ‘high-level committee’ on September 2 to make recommendations on the issue of holding elections for the Lok Sabha, state assemblies, municipal bodies and panchayats simultaneously.
