The look of Darbhanga Medical College Hospital will change, construction of a new building with 2100 beds will start this year.

The initiative to construct a new building for Darbhanga Medical College Hospital (DMCH), Laheriasarai keeping in mind the enrollment of 250 MBBS has started. Also, action has been started towards construction of a new building with 2100 beds in this hospital.

Hospital Management Building

DMCH has a campus of 225 acres. The initiative to develop it and build a modern medical college hospital has been started by Bihar Medical Services and Infrastructure Corporation Limited (BMSICL).

The corporation has issued a tender in this regard. Also, the building agency has to restore the building construction and other facilities within two years of the tender.

After the government’s announcement, the Health Department has started the process of new construction from DMCH.

225 acres of campus is being provided by BMSICL internally and externally for installation of pipeline system, sanitation work, electrical work, site development, construction of boundary wall, installation of sewerage treatment plant, fire detection, fire alarm, CCTV, land. Tender has been issued for the work of leveling, medical and non-medical furniture, computers and servers, medical equipment and demolition of the existing structure.

The tender involves reconstruction of DMCH from scratch. In the reconstruction of the college, administrative building, lecture theatre, laboratory, staff and faculty residence, hostel, medical and non-medical services are to be constructed.

Dining

All such works are to be done within 24 months of receiving the tender. It is believed that the construction work of the building will be started by the end of this year.

Hostel

The work of demolition of old buildings and filling of soil for new buildings is going on in the campus. It is expected that this project will be completed on time. This is the dream project of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Water Resources Minister Sanjay Kumar Jha.

Darbhanga Medical College was established in 1946 by Maharaja Kameshwar Singh of Darbhanga. Earlier, his father Maharaja Rameshwar Singh had established Temple Medical School at this place. Seeing the need of medical education, Kameshwar Singh worked to upgrade it and make it a medical college.
