Employees working in companies located in Gujarat International Finance Tech-City i.e. ‘Gift City’ can get a permit to sell liquor. This permit is being issued only for a certain area inside GIFT City for two years. The state government has also issued a notification regarding this. According to the notification issued by the State Home Department, a person coming to ‘Gift City’ can take a temporary permit. This permit will be valid for one day only.
Permit issued for wine and dine facility
Those who have a permit will have to go to the designated Wine and Dine area to consume alcohol. Liquor can be purchased at only one specific place. According to the notification, visitors can avail the benefit of new temporary permit if needed. It is noteworthy that the Gujarat government had recently removed the ban on liquor from that area to create a global business environment in GIFT City. According to the new rules, permits will be issued to existing and new hotels, restaurants and clubs in GIFT City to provide wine and dine facilities.
In such a situation the permit will be canceled
According to the notification issued by the Gujarat government, officials will create a data of employees willing to take permits, which will have to be updated every day. Will also send it to the authorized officer. The authorized officer will issue liquor access permit on the basis of the list sent by the employees. These permits will be issued for two years. After this it can be renewed for two years. At the same time, according to the notification, those who apply for the permit should be at least 21 years of age. Also, an annual fee of Rs 1000 will have to be paid for the permit. If any person leaves his job in GIFT City, his permit will be canceled with immediate effect.
How to get permit
According to the notification issued by the Gujarat government, if anyone wants to apply for a liquor license inside GIFT City, then he will have to apply to the Superintendent of Prohibition and Excise located in Gandhinagar. After the application, the permit will be issued after verification by the License Gift Facility Committee. At the same time, after getting approval from the committee, the Prohibition and Excise Superintendent will issue the license. And permission will be given to keep and sell liquor in certain areas. Initially the license to sell liquor will be issued for one to five years. After this it can be renewed for up to five years.
How much will the license cost?
According to the notification, the cost of obtaining a license for liquor will be Rs 1 lakh annually. Also, the permit taker will have to deposit a security amount of Rs 2 lakh. After completing the entire process, the license holder can purchase liquor from any license in the state or outside the state under the Gujarat Foreign Liquor Rules 1965 and Bombay Foreign Liquor Rules 1953.
