If we talk about sales, Mahindra Thar is at twenty-fifth position in the list of car sales in September 2023 with sales of 5,951 units. Despite a good start, Jimny has not been able to show much success in sales. Only 2,651 units of Jimny were sold in the month of September.

Mahindra Thar is a mid-size SUV that is available with two engine options: a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine and a 2.2-litre diesel engine. The petrol engine produces 150 horsepower and 320 Nm of torque, while the diesel engine produces 130 horsepower and 320 Nm of torque. Both engines are offered with 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission.
Maruti Jimny Specifications
The Maruti Jimny, on the other hand, is a small-sized SUV that is available with only one engine option: a 1.5-litre petrol engine. This engine produces 102 horsepower and 130 Nm of torque. The Jimny is offered only with a five-speed manual transmission.
Maruti Jimny took lessons from Thar, but still lagged behind
Maruti Jimny understood the draw-backs of Mahindra Thar and added many different features. Mahindra Thar has only four doors due to which the passengers sitting in the back seat had to face problems. Whereas Maruti Jimny was introduced as a proper 5-seater off-road SUV. Chair seats have been provided in its middle row in which three people can easily sit. Now Mahindra Thar is going to be launched very soon with 5 door option.
Maruti jimny and Mahindra Thar Price
If we talk about price, the price of Thar starts from Rs 9.50 to Rs 16 lakh, whereas the ex-showroom price of Maruti Jimny is Rs 15.05 lakh. In terms of price, both the SUVs are a good option, despite this, the sales of Jimny are much less than Thar.
