Tesla’s first Y model car is coming to make a splash in India, may be launched in 2024

Although, initially the government was refusing for this, but later it has accepted Tesla’s proposal and decided to change the rules of import duty. After this decision of the government, it is now being speculated that Tesla’s Model Y car will be its first car in India. It is also possible that the American car manufacturer will launch its Model Y car in India as early as 2024. Although the company has not announced it officially, it is being said that Tesla will start importing its models into India from next year.

Tesla Model Y car was made in 2020

The Tesla Model Y car is a midsize crossover SUV based on the platform of the Model 3 sedan, manufactured in 2020. It is in the smaller and less expensive segment compared to the mid-size Model Like Model X, this model also has the seating capacity of seven people. Third-row seats are available as an option. Currently, the price of Model Y in Germany is around Rs 45 lakh. However, with import duties and taxes, it may be more expensive for Indian customers.

Tesla Model Y is sold in the international market in two variants, Long Range and Performance. Now it remains to be seen in how many variants the company will launch it in India. It is being told that Tesla Model Y SUV will come in 7-seater layout. In such a situation, seven passengers will be able to sit in it.

Both variants of this upcoming car from Tesla will have all-wheel drivetrain with dual motor setup (one on each axle). The company claims that its long range variant will be capable of covering a range of 525 kilometers. At the same time, the performance variant will cover a range of 488 kilometers on full charge.

Features of Tesla Model Y

The Tesla Model Y car will have a 15-inch tablet-like display, which will come with many controls. Apart from this, its feature list will also include 12-way adjustable and heated front and rear seats, panoramic glass roof, dual zone climate control and wireless charging.

Car import not allowed

According to media reports, a person working as a consultant in the company, on the condition of anonymity, said that due to the geo-political tension between India and China, Tesla’s top management was clearly told by the concerned ministries. That they should not import any car from the world’s largest EV market. Additionally, India-German relations on a number of topics have already been signed and US EV manufacturers are encouraged to take advantage of this.
