Telecom Tariff Hike: After the general elections, there is an estimate of 15-17 percent tariff increase in the telecom industry. This has been said in a report. General elections will be held in the country in seven phases from April 19 to June 1. Counting of votes will be done on June 4.

According to a report by Antique Stock Broking, a tariff hike in the sector is imminent and Bharti Airtel could be the biggest beneficiary. The report said, we expect the industry to increase duty by 15-17 percent after the elections. The last time the fee was increased by about 20 percent was in December 2021.

Projecting the average earnings per subscriber (ARPU) for India’s second-largest telco, the brokerage note said Bharti’s current ARPU of Rs 208 is likely to reach Rs 286 by the end of financial year 2026-27.

The report said, we expect Bharti Airtel’s customer base to grow at about two percent per year, while the industry will grow by one percent per year.

It said on customer basis, Vodafone Idea’s market share has declined from 37.2 percent in September 2018 to almost half i.e. 19.3 percent in December 2023. Bharti’s market share has increased from 29.4 percent to 33 percent during this period. Jio’s market share has increased from 21.6 percent to 39.7 percent during this period.
