Teaching in tribal language will start in 1000 schools of Jharkhand

Ranchi: At present, education is being conducted in five tribal languages in 250 schools of six districts of the state – Khunti, Lohardaga, P Singhbhum, Gumla, Simdega and Sahibganj. From the next academic session, education in tribal languages will be started in 1000 primary and middle schools of a total of 10 districts by including four new districts. The education department has started preparations for this. The survey for selection of schools in these districts will start soon. In the initial phase, this arrangement is for classes one to three.

It was told that 70 percent or more children speaking the tribal language in which education will be started must be enrolled in the respective schools. At the same time, to start studies in tribal language, the consent of the management committee of the concerned school and the parents of the children is also necessary. If the parents of the children do not give consent, then the studies will not start. It is noteworthy that last year, under the pilot project, the Education Department had started teaching in Mundari language in Khunti, Kudukh in Lohardaga, Ho in West Singhbhum, Khadiya in Gumla and Simdega and Santali language in Sahibganj.

250 schools were selected for this. The department is now preparing to evaluate these schools. Under this, its impact on the educational level of children will be studied. Based on the results of the evaluation, further necessary changes will be made in this system. The department has also printed books in the respective languages for studies in tribal languages. At the same time, teachers are also given training from time to time.
