Tata Punch CNG launched with sunroof, starting price Rs 7.10 lakh

New Delhi : The much awaited Punch iCNG from Tata Motors has been launched. Its price starts from Rs. 7.10 lakhs and goes up to Rs. 9.68 lakhs. Both the prices are ex-showroom. Tata will sell the Punch iCNG in 3 variants. These include Pure, Adventure and Accomplished. The Adventure variant will also be offered with the Rhythm pack, while the Accomplished variant will also be offered with the Dazzle S pack. Apart from this, Tata Motors has also updated the Tiago iCNG and the Tigor iCNG.

Tata Punch CNG Engine

Powering the Punch iCNG from Tata Motors is a 1.2-litre, three-cylinder engine that produces 84.82 bhp max power and 113 Nm peak torque output when running on petrol. On CNG the power output drops to 75.94 Bhp while the torque output drops to 97 Nm. The engine comes mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 5-speed AMT. However, the CNG powertrain only gets a 5-speed AMT.

Features of Tata Punch CNG

One of the biggest distinguishing features of Tata’s iCNG range is the dual-cylinder technology. Instead of using one big CNG cylinder, Tata Motors is using two smaller 30-litre cylinders, which means the total capacity is set to 60 litres. The cylinders are housed in the floor well of the boot. This means that there is still useful boot space available for the occupants to keep their luggage and other belongings. The punch also packs a ‘punch’ in itself. It gets a 7-inch infotainment display, rear wiper with washer, cruise control, cooled glove box, rain sensing wipers, cooled glove box, projector headlamps and more.

Tata Punch CNG Features

Tata Motors CNG vehicles also come with several safety features. It gets leak detection feature and Tata is using high quality stainless steel and corrosion and resistant materials. It also gets thermal incident protection, wherein the supply of CNG to the engine is automatically cut off and the gas in the cylinder is automatically released to the atmosphere. It also has a microswitch which ensures that the car will not start when the fuel lid is open. Cosmetically, the brand has not made any changes apart from the new iCNG badging. The cabin gets a CNG button, which is used to switch the fuel supply from CNG to petrol or vice-versa. The instrument cluster has been updated to feature a CNG gauge.

The top model of Tata Punch comes with only 2 airbags. However, the government order for 6-airbags is due in October 2023. That’s why soon there will be 4 extra airbags in the punch. In addition, it gets segment-first features like burglar alarm, two-way dashcam, ESC, vehicle stability management and hill-assist control. The SUV gets standard ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, ISOFIX child mounts and more.
